Clan Aberration was born in late 1996 in Orono , Maine , specifically in the East wing of the 2nd floor of Somerset hall, a dormitory on the campus of the University of Maine .  The original CA was formed as a means for the residents of this close-knit wing to play organized games of Team Fortress, the most popular Quake mod in history.  The name was picked for it's erudite connotation and because it described the squad perfectly: like nothing else out there.  CA was perfectly suited to the heavily teamwork dependant TF because every member of the team lived literally within shouting distance of one another.  The first season was less-than-stunning, but the next academic year, aided by an infusion of new blood (freshmen) and experience from the returning sophomores CA made quite a name for itself competing against the likes of GT, Oski, CE, aPr, and AoA, and could easily be considered one of the top 5 TF clans.  At the its height CA maintained one web server, 2 public TF servers, 1 public CTF server, and 1 public DM server, running on an AMD 5x86 133, a Pentium MMX 200, and an Alpha 533LX.  The season closed with CA taking 2nd (just behind AoA) in a field of 20 in some tournament nobody seems to remember the name of.  Clan Aberration went into hibernation at the end of this year due to the decline of Quake TF.

    Two years later when the boys of 2 East once again found themselves in need of a name to play a new game under there was no doubt about what it would be.  The old moniker was dusted off, along with more than a few members of the original CA, including Ace, Darkmage, Darkwulf, Homer, and T-Toe.  The game this time is Unreal Tournament, but other than that things are just like they used to be, right down to the clan web server residing under Darkwulf's bed. CA’s adventure in to Unreal Tournament was one we are all very happy with reaching a pinnacle on 2^nd place on the OGL CTF ladder only behind our nemesis C1. We also had good showings on the Domination and Team DM ladders but the pride and joy was CTF.

Some 11 years after the Clan’s establishment and 8 years since last being active CA is now going on its 2^nd rebirth, and has welcomed a 3^rd generation of members. The game this time is Half-Life’s remake on the game that started this Clan.  A few members of the original CA, Darkwulf & T-Toe, along with battle tested vets such as Kliffdor, Corrosion, bornslinky, Hawkeye & Jones have started back up with some new members and are coming to a server near you.

The Cuddly Animal connection:

Snuggles, HuggyBear, and Rockchops are all originally from the Albany area in New York. We are actually friends originally from High School. We went off to different colleges, as friends tend to do, but stayed in touch and have been gaming with each other in one form or another since high school. Rockchops went off to RPI (staying in the Capital Reigion), and now lives in North Carolina. HuggyBear is finishing up his undergraduate at SUNY (State University of New York) at Plattsburgh, and Snuggles is currently a Master's Student at SUNY at Brockport. (Near Rochester)

Ironically, they playing Counter-Strike: Source a few years back when it came out, and  decided to add the tag [CA] to name (Cuddly Animals) so people would think that where a clan, and because it was vaguely funny. HuggyBear (who was playing under the name Ultigus, switched his name to HuggyBear and stuck the tag on too. Rockchops followed suit under the name FluffyKitten. We played CS:Source with those names for a while, not really a real clan, but just a group of friends being goofy.  

Fast forward to fall 2007,  Snuggles is playing TF2 and shopping around for a TF2 clan. He happen to come across your server one night and had a good time. Really was more concerned with finding a neat group of people to play with than having an ultra competitive clan, and saw that CA guys were in the process of joining TWL when he  found the forums. He started hanging around and playing and just sort of became part of the new TF2 CA kind of by an odd process of Osmosis. Huggy and Rockchops just followed the same process.
